As Code Louisville and Code Kentucky have evolved, we’ve noticed there is often a knowledge gap between students in a class, and true beginners to the tech field sometimes get discouraged and withdraw from the course because they are taking on too much too fast. To help combat that, we are piloting a modular approach to the program that will provide more knowledge checks and ramp up to better prepare students to start their coding journeys.

Following a successful first full program year, we are excited to welcome over 180 students to our January session that kicks off this week.

More than 40 tech professionals have volunteered their time to Code Kentucky over our first four sessions, and these volunteer mentors are an integral part of our program’s success. Over the last month we’ve spotlighted five of our amazing mentors for #MentorMonday, and we wanted to share some of the reasons why they mentor.

The newly-launched Code Kentucky program kicked-off its first session the week of September 13, with 68 students enrolled across Eastern and Northern Kentucky. Code Kentucky is a spin-off of the highly successful Code Louisville program that has helped over 650 adults launch exciting new careers in technology since 2015.
