Code Kentucky Wraps Up Successful First Program Year

Our inaugural program year came to an end on June 30, and we are excited to announce that Code Kentucky has received funding to continue for a second program year.

Throughout our first three sessions, the most recent of which concluded July 29, over 100 adults from Eastern and Northern Kentucky have completed at least one Code Kentucky course. Those students have completed 155 total courses, and our student numbers have continued to rise with each new session.

In January, we rolled out a new pathways model that encourages students to complete two consecutive 12-week courses as a deep dive into one of the following subject areas: Data Analysis with Python, Software Development with C#, or Web Development with JavaScript. With the completion of our most recent session, 32 students have now completed a full pathway. Our upcoming fall session will also feature a new course option, a track to obtain the Salesforce Administrator Certificate.

The goal of our program is to help Kentuckians launch exciting new careers in tech, and we are pleased to share that 11 students have already found a new job in tech or have received a promotion/raise at their current company because of the skills they’ve learned through Code Kentucky. Click here to hear the story of one such student, Lindsey Krummen. Our staff works closely with students to help them identify their career goals, fine-tune their resumes, and to offer support throughout the job hunt process. Visit our Hire page to learn more about how you can make a Code Kentucky graduate your next team member.

More than 30 software development professionals have volunteered their time to serve as mentors for our program through the first three sessions. We are looking forward to expanding our network of mentors and employer partners even more throughout the second program year. If you’re interested in mentoring for our upcoming fall session, sign up here and our Operations Manager will be in touch with more information about the program and to see if it’s a good fit.

We are looking forward to assisting our biggest pool of students yet this fall, and to continue helping all of the participants of our program as they navigate the tech industry.
