Fall Session Kicks-off with New Salesforce Offering

Building on the success of our first program year, we are excited to welcome approximately 200 students to our fall session that kicked-off last week.

New for this session is a Salesforce Administrator Certificate course we are offering through a partnership with Trailhead Academy. Fifty students will complete a curriculum through Trailhead Academy paired with our model of mentor meetup sessions to help prepare them to pass the Salesforce Administrator Certificate exam. This in-demand certification will help participants launch a career in the growing field of Salesforce.

In addition to the Salesforce course, we are continuing with the pathways model that allows students to select from one of three subjects for a deep-dive of two, 12-week courses in a chosen area: Web Development with JavaScript, Data Analysis with Python, or Software Development with C#. Prospective students interested in learning more about the pathways can check out our Pre-work Wiki for more info.

Throughout the 12-week course, students must complete the required curriculum through Pluralsight, attend a weekly meetup with fellow students and mentors, submit a project showcasing the skills they’ve learned, and complete some job readiness requirements. Students are encouraged to complete two subsequent courses to complete their pathway.

The success of our program relies heavily on the participation of volunteer mentors, who are seasoned software developers looking to give back by helping students troubleshoot and better understand learning concepts. Twenty-eight volunteer mentors will be working with our students across the seven courses we have this session.

As a staff, we keep a close eye on industry and labor market trends to ensure we are training the new wave of tech talent with valuable skills to bolster the tech workforce in Kentucky. We’ve already had a dozen students land exciting new jobs in tech, and we’re looking forward to helping many more in the months and years to come!
