January Session Kicks-off With New Pathways Model

Our second session kicked off last week, with over 100 students enrolled from Eastern and Northern Kentucky. New for this session is the roll-out of our pathways model, which allows students to select from one of three subjects for a deeper-dive: Web Development with JavaScript, Data Analysis with Python, or Software Development with C#. Prospective students interested in learning more about the pathways can check out our Pre-work Wiki for more info.

Throughout the 12-week course, students must complete the required curriculum through Pluralsight, submit a project showcasing the skills they’ve learned, attend a tech event, and do an informational interview. Students are encouraged to complete two subsequent courses to complete their pathway.

The success of our program relies heavily on the participation of volunteer mentors, who are seasoned software developers looking to give back by helping students troubleshoot and better understand learning concepts. We welcomed 14 mentors this session, spread across the four classes.

As a staff, we keep a close eye on industry and labor market trends to ensure we are training the new wave of tech talent with valuable skills to bolster the tech workforce in Kentucky. We’ve already had a few students land exciting new jobs in tech, and we’re looking forward to helping many more in the months and years to come!
